StarFlash 2.0 Series Standards Released
At the 2024 International StarFlash Alliance Industry Summit held on March 30th, the StarFlash Alliance announced the expansion of the Alliance’s membership to 935 units and the release of the StarFlash 2.0 series of standards. StarFlash 2.0 completes the StarFlash end-to-end protocol system, fully supporting native audio and video, human-computer interaction, positioning and other applications. Microsoft Releases Windows 11 February 2023 Update
On February 28, Microsoft announced via an official blog post that it will be pushing the February 2023 feature update to Windows 11 users. The update corresponds to the previously rumored version update codenamed 22H2 Moment 2, with major new features including integration of AI-based Start menu file recommendations, taskbar interaction for touchscreen devices, third-party widgets, support for selective video recording in the system screenshot tool, support for multiple tabs in the built-in Notepad app, suggested settings to help users reduce their carbon footprint, improved Braille display, and enhanced voice access. Microsoft also announced a preview version of Phone Link for iOS for Windows Preview Program users and brought personal instant hotspot quick access and web browsing relay features to Samsung phone users.

In terms of styling, according to CAD renders posted by 9to5Mac and Twitter user Ice Universe, among others, the entire iPhone 15 lineup will feature a Dynamic Island design with a 6.2-inch display, slightly larger than the iPhone 14’s 6.1-inch; however, the triple camera and rumored capacitive buttons remain exclusive to the Pro version. iPhone 15 Pro Max’s height and width have been reduced, but the thickness has been increased by 5 percent (0.4 mm), which makes the camera bump 0.59 mm less than its predecessor.

WSA Upgrade to Android 13 Base Core
On January 10, Microsoft officially announced the release of Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA) update to all Windows Preview Program channel users with the new version number 2211.40000.11.0, which will upgrade the Android system version from Android 12.1 to Android 13. The update also brings stability optimizations to WSA, including startup performance, mouse click input, clipboard stability, app window resizing, and support for launching apps from app shortcuts.

Apple Ramps up AR/VR Development
Bloomberg contributor Mark Gurman reports that Apple is continuing to ramp up its AR/VR team hiring efforts by recruiting new employees, moving senior veterans around, and poaching back former employees who have left the company. The first internal version of the operating system for the in-development mixed reality headset, codenamed Oak, is reportedly nearing completion in time for a new hardware release next year. According to a job description, Apple wants to support third-party applications on MR devices and also plans to “build tools and frameworks to enable connected experiences in 3D mixed reality.

Sony announces flagship camera Alpha 7R V
On October 26, Sony announced its next-generation flagship camera, the Alpha 7R V (A7R V), which features a 61-megapixel full-frame Exmor R back-illuminated sensor and BIONZ XR image processor with 15 levels of photo dynamic range. Real-time subject tracking. The camera also features an 8-stage 5-axis stabilization system that increases stability in handheld shots or generates ultra-high resolution photos with pixel shift.
